Trailbuilding days at Plainville Township Lake
Volunteers are welcome to join us every-other Saturday for trail building! Tasks include brush cutting and clearing, leveling the route, and eventually spreading and compacting the surface materials.
Safety is important. Wear sturdy footwear, and bring leather work gloves, hearing and vision protection if you have them. Wear layers appropriate for the weather, and a hat may be handy. Ticks and mosquitoes may be a problem in season.
Tools commonly used include pulaskis, shovels, loppers, rakes, chainsaws, and wheelbarrows. Other tools less frequently used may include survey tools and heavy equipment.
Many hands make light work, and a tremendous amount of progress can be made by a group of eight-to-ten volunteers. Except for use of chainsaws and heavy equipment, the work environment is safe for children, if they are able to help or otherwise entertain themselves. Work sessions are scheduled for approximately three hours, however some days will be longer; volunteers are welcome to work beyond the scheduled time.
The details for each workday will be posted at Facebook.com/pftrails. Meet at Bret’s Bike, 420 W Mill, Plainville prior to going to the worksite. This is where tools are stored, and will allow tools to be brought appropriate for the size and skills of the group.
